Welcome to all new season.

The Warriors are back for another season, making this our 27th in our long history. Masters Football continues to grow in WA, with the Warriors continuing to lead the way.

Pre season training has commenced under our Club Coach ‘Rat”, who is in his ninth year as the club’s most senior coach and will again take charge of the Supers. Kenny and Deano have been selected to coach the Masters with Kimbo to look after our old boys in the Seniors team. Good luck to all teams and coaches for the season.

Once again, the Warriors will field three teams in the metropolitan competition. We cater for any footballer from the age of 33 upwards. Being the most northern club in the metro area, means that we draw from a wide range of suburbs. Unlike some of the other Veterans Clubs, the Warriors are not aligned to any particularly suburban club. Not matter where you have played before, you will be always welcome at the Warriors.

The Clubs main sponsors continue to AP Fire Systems and City Farmers Joondalup. Thank you to both businesses for your ongoing support of veterans’ football.

Our social calendar will be full again this year, with Bevan Green appointed as our Social Director. Watch out for flyers or the Warriors News for more information.

Masters football is all about enjoying yourself both on and off then field. The Warriors enjoy a great reputation for our socializing as well as playing the game in the right spirit. I endorse all new members to join in this spirit.

Brett “Honns” Honner

President 2009

Welcome to the web site of the Northern Warriors Football Club Inc. The Warriors are the largest and oldest veteran’s football club in WA. We boast a proud history of playing hard and partying even harder.

Founded in 1982 the Warriors are one of the 2 foundation clubs of the WA Masters Football competition see Club History. This year marks our 27th anniversary in the WA competition.

Our Club caters for all ages in veterans’ football from 33 years and older. Veteran football is about involvement. All players get to play, without fear or favour. Selection committees do not exist in veteran’s football. However, do not be fooled about the intensity of the football we play. The game is full contact but fair football, with the player endeavouring to get the ball, always protected. All the elements that make AFL such a great game to play are retained in Veterans Football. It is only that we are somewhat slower than our prime. Games are played each fortnight mostly on Sundays; however, this year’s fixture has one Saturday game.

The Warriors train at Forrest Reserve, Padbury every Wednesday (all year round) commencing from 5.30pm. We train for approximately one hour and then enjoy refreshments of various qualities normally lasting much longer than training.

The Warriors have a strong active social calendar during the year, which is open to both members and non-members alike. See Events.

If you like your football and the mateship that football clubs are renowned for, then give us a call or better still just rock up on a Wednesday evening and have a run.

You will find a welcoming atmosphere at the Warriors with a great camaraderie around both family involvement and social interaction.
While a moderate level of fitness is required to enjoy the game fully, training runs are normally only once a week without the need for huge time commitments.

Supers 33 to 40

This is the premier age category where the standard is both high and fast paced. This is a 14 Team competition in the metropolitan in which the Warriors have been a strong performing team in recent years.

Masters 40 to 45

This has been the Warriors gun team for the past 3 years. It boasts seasoned players who enjoy the game but still want a challenge each game day. Only lost the 1 game last year.

Seniors 45+

The old fellows of the Club, most who still have a run in the other junior teams when they are short. Don’t let the age fool you; these guys like to play hard (both on and off the field). Our oldest player is a young 60 in Ray Harp!
